Aerial Lineman
The Aerial Lineman under direct supervision of the Project Manager performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, and transmission facilities
Requirements
Other duties may be assigned.
- Install, upgrade and repair products
- Run cable in buildings; lash and de-lash existing cable
- Ability to perform all duties of aerial maintenance and line work
- Install and remove various anchors systems (sidewalk arms, guy guards etc.)
- Ensures all installation work is done according to quality standards
- Assist in the coordination between local utility companies when necessary
- Assists with work overflow
- Follows all company policy and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment
- Understanding of emergency restoration protocols
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
- CDL license in good standing
- Vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified
- Towing various trailers with bucket trucks
- Provides support for crews during all phases of construction activity
- Understand how to read and construct from a design schematic of map
- Understand all inventory and equipment required for these projects
- Commission safety guidelines
- Underground work as needed and directed and as trained
- Lead teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor
- Understand how to read and construct from a design schematic of map
- Understand all inventory and equipment required for these projects
- Certified on the use of equipment:
- Line Truck
- Bucket truck
- Cable Reel equipment
- Saws and drills
- Familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines
- Provide administrative support including submitting and updating paperwork and tracking job activity
Qualifications

- Three years of experience in coax, aerial, and fiber construction
- Experience with installation and network upgrades a plus
- Proficient in pole climbing and working from hooks/gaffs
- Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 ft.
- Experience in Pole Transfer, all types
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of electrical principles
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
- Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment testing (motor vehicle, drug and background)
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay Range
Pay is determined by CDL status, mastery of skills, efficient use of tools, time and company resources, as well as adherence to company policies and safety protocols. Negligence, abuse or insubordination may result in reduced pay or demotion. Pays $28.88 to $34.00 per hour.
